Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) made a surprise appearance at a recent Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Hollywood, Florida, where the stunned crowd erupted in loud applause and chanted “USA!”
DeSantis appeared onstage with his wife, Casey, and their children, during the band’s show Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Lynyrd Skynyrd has made no secret of its admiration of De Santis.
Earlier this year, lead singer Johnny Van Zant and his brother, Donny Van Zant, released a new single dedicated to the governor titled “Sweet Florida.”

I saw the original Lynyrd Skynyrd band 5 times. The last time was their second to last concert before the crash, at Lakeland (FL) civic center on a Saturday night. The next day they had a concert in South Carolina and after that concert, Sunday night, was the plane crash.

Steve and Cassy Gains were from the Vinita Big Cabin area in NE Oklahoma. About 1 hour up hwy.69 from were I grew up. I went to see them in July 1977 at the Tulsa Fair Grounds. Went with a high school friend that was their 2 nd. cousin. A few months later, he was going to a memorial service for them.
