Good point. The family will likely just eat their own citrus or give it to others closer to them. Midwesterners will be stuck with whatever we have stocked up in our pantries.

That sounds fantastic! Do you soak dried black soybeans, or do you get them canned? That’s something new to me, so I’ll have to look next time I’m out grocery shopping.

Had to look up ‘Sazon’ but it looks like it’s a blend of spices I already have on hand, except for annatto seed:

I don't think that, under such circumstances, the "survivors" will have to worry about the Dept. of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms sneaking around their vegetable patches, looking for counterfeit banderoles.

Probably not. But growing anything is a skill, and skills require practice. It seemed prudent to include that little caveat in case someone decides to practice growing and curing tobacco when there isn't a collapse.
