Eugene Yu's crime was not that he stored election data on servers in China, it's that the data he stored doesn't match the fictional election data claimed by those who stole the election of 2020.

They can't steal another election if someone is backing up the legitimate data somewhere else. Even if they did steal the election, their efforts would all be for their blackmailers instead.
