There is only one county that has aggressively weaponized energy. That would be Russia. Seems pretty obvious what is going on here. Putin wanted to freeze Europe and that’s not happening. So now he escalates.

If there was no Russian gas being bought in Europe, why does the pipeline even matter?

If the pumps were not working and needed sanctioned parts from Siemens Canada, why does a rupture matter?

All contracts have a Forge Majeure clause in them. Releasing one or both contract signers from fulfilling said contract in the event of “an act of God”. A terrorist act would be considered an Act of God and declare the contract null and void. No difference than a hurricane causing an issue is an Act of God.
