Isn’t Denver one of those “DEFUND THE POLICE” havens? I would say that it’s a fairly safe bet that they pay more attention to the Woke critters running rampant in that city than they do on keeping the best and brightest on their Police Force.
Practice and training cut way down on stories like this.
In a stressful situation, people may not see their sights or even their gun as they focus solely on the perceived threat and can’t see anything else.
Bring a top marksman at a range where there is little stress doesn’t always equate to being one in a shootout.
I, when in better health, practiced point shooting as promoted by Colonel Rex Applegate. As I never take the gun outside the home, except to the range, I practiced at ranges no greater then 7 yards as it’s impossible for me to shoot at ranges greater then that inside the home.
If you train to use your sights but then don’t use them in an actual situation, you may miss a lot.
I watch some youtube thing called Active Self Protection where they review shootings and go through the pros and cons. A recent one they were commending the two cops during a stressful situation where they got the bad guy down.
The cop that I think had the most shots on the bad guy had just be in a head-on collision with the bad guy, airbags went off in his face but he gets out, calmly radios the situation and then responds when the bad guy starts shooting.
At the end the dispatcher asks “Where is the subject hit?”
“Everywhere” is the answer. In spite of numerous hits on the bad guy he is still putting up a good fight as they get the cuffs on him, but he died in the street.
I’ve seen some of the best shooters fail miserably when they are put in a stressful situation. Sounds like the Denver cops need more range time and shooting simulator time, emphasis on simulator.
On a well lit range, at precisely 50 feet, a paper target doesn't stand a chance when I'm carrying.

Federal agency may ban use of traditional ammo and tackle
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is in settlement negotiations with activist organizations over a lawsuit regarding the use of traditional ammunition and lead on more than 3 million acres of federal land, according to a group of Republican U.S. Senators.

Now that situation I get.
Hitting bystanders is bad, but the important thing is that no cops were hurt. What’s 6 innocent people shot when you weigh this against the police who “put their (or is it our) lives on the line every day?”
And in before the cop kissers After all “we don’t know the whole story”. Although we actually DO know the whole story. And my favorite “You want them to go home to their families at night don’t you?” Well I suspect the bystanders who were shot wanted to go home to their families too, but they didn’t get to do that. AND I suspect that any lawsuits will be met with cries of “qualified immunity”
