To do a full forensic audit of an election many things must be investigated and studied. Not just recounting the ballots and issuing a recount figure to check official results. No. The entire thing must be taken apart, and all the different facets carefully examined. As a reference, a forensic examination of a dead body requires it to be cut into and every minute part examined and tested to determine the resulting death.
Now an election has many aspects. And each must be examined. So a legislature must order the investigation, according to law. Each state has its own legislature. And each state legislature has the legal power to control the election.

If they would just go back to one day, all paper ballots most of this BS would go away - but cheaters won’t allow it.

Very shortsighted thinking as usual by the GOP.
There is plenty of video from 2020 showing Dems kicking Republicans out of both voting locations and county election locations where the votes are counted.
A full audit requires an “audit trail”.
When they steal elections the first step is to ensure there is no audit trail.
In other words, long before the actual theft, there were measures taken to ensure the evidence of their theft could never be proven.
For example, a real, legitimate vote differs from a fake vote by virtue of it being 1) cast by a real person who is qualifies to vote, and 2) by the fact that only o e vote exists for that voter.
So, in order to facilitate subsequent proof (via an audit) that those conditions were met, the voters identity must be verified as legitimate, and chain of custody must me preserved to make sure the voter cast only one vote.
The Democrats made sure neither of these verifications took place - we can never prove forensically that 2020 was stolen - but we CAN prove that they..
1) destroyed evidence
2) erased audit trails
3) obstructed justice
- which are every bit as criminal as the election theft itself.
Not only is what they did a crime, it is high treason.
Just another “method” to confirm the Democrats won.

Someone once described the difference between a recount and a forensic audit.
If you do an audit, you may find that out of twenty apples, 8 are apples, 10 are oranges and 2 are baseballs.
When you do a recount, you still get 20 apples.
You are right. Just as soon as the late-arriving, forged ballots are read into the counting machines, they will be destroyed by some ‘tragic accident’. This will preclude any possibility of a ‘full forensic audit.’ Any howls from the right will be met with smug “we have to go with the original count since we cannot reproduce it ... oh well ...”.
And our elected Rs will settle down and accept it.
