Seems Trump will never learn his lesson
You don’t need a SCIF to hold declassified documents. And he doesn’t need a paper trail either… this is because his statement that he did so is legally sufficient and fully within his constitutional authority. The government has to B prove he DIDN’T declassify with a wave of the arm.
If they charge him, his fully sufficient defense is “I saw it and declassified it”.
The government cannot prove otherwise.
The sorority rules for declassification and handling are for the minions and worker bees, but a president is not constrained by them. He has plenary power in that area.
Exactly. They are trying to trap him by making him provide a list of what he declassified and comparing out to what they stole. That would also give the FBI a perfect opportunity to slip one in that wasn’t on his list. It doesn’t work that way.

The SCIF would be used for documents that he did not declassify. I’m betting he has some.
As to his “wave of the hand” declassification I simply don’t agree that he needs no proof. At the minimum he needs witnesses.
What if he decided to declassify the documents, declared them declassified and nobody was present. And then nobody was tasked to start the official declassification process and the remarking of the documents. There is no way anyone could dispute that or confirm it. It would just be Trump’s word.
Even if this would fly in court, which I doubt, it is so unnecessary. Trump had the power to declassify these documents and should not have that left that very important task to the last minute.

There is no SCIF big enough in the world for the documents the government classifies. Over 9,000,000 a year are considered classified and too dangerous for American citizens to view. Multiply this 9,000,000 by decades to understand the scope of documents.
They say sunshine is the best disinfectant, well we live in one of the darkest countries in the world. Hell, you can’t even get a non-blackout document for the 1947 Roswell incident. Over 80-year-old document and still considered to sensitive for Americans’ eyes.
These documents are likely nothing burgers but we are stupid as a people to view them.
This sudden kingly view of the presidency by people is scary, but predictable. Their man can do no wrong, so don’t dare question it.
It makes zero sense that Trump (hey fools - substitute Biden, or Klintoon, or Uhbama in there) can just collect document/info and declare it unclassified incognito. Never mind the wisdom of some one person being able to magically decide the numerous submarine secrets are OK to blab out in the open.
Lots of these people never worked with classified.
