Much has been said in the media about the Jackson water crisis by reporters who are experts on everything and knowledgeable about nothing. They blame the flooding of the O.B. Curtis plant, white flight, racism, and a mean ole legislature that refuses to help Jackson. Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba wasn't about to discourage such tales of woe as he sought to avoid any responsibility for the catastrophe that happened on his watch. Well, perhaps it's time to tell the real story of how the Jackson water treatment system fell apart, media be damned.....
Following the money tells a different story although it might be a bit much to expect reporters to actually read Jackson’s financial statements as most of them are ignorant on such things. More than a few probably think a debit is the sound of a frog....
The EPA inspected the water treatment plants in February 2020 and discovered they were falling apart due to neglect, incompetence, and a shortage of employees. The agency issued an Emergency Administrative Order in March 2020....
Mayor Lumumba kept the EPA emergency administrative order secret for over a year ....
Instead of investigating, the media spoke to the one person who had the strongest motive to lie and lie he did as Mayor Lumumba appeared in countless interviews, spinning tale after tale of how it was all the fault of Republicans. Unfortunately for all, the media reported it all as fact, not to be questioned. Such is the state of modern journalism today. Why report reality when it can be manufactured? ...

Patrice Lumumba?
What country? what state?
Broken by liberal Democrats. This is not a mistake.
This is how it’s supposed to be. They like it this way, otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it over and over.
How many once great cities have been emptied out once Democrats gain a permanent hold?

This is an excellent article. The problem is , it doesn’t matter. The left gets away with pushing its narratives relentlessly and opposing the narrative becomes impossible and if you do even your friends and family won’t lesson, don’t want to take the time to understand and think you are a fool. This really kicked into action after Tet 68 during the Viet Nam War. The left narrative of US criminality and cruelty, American soldier brutality, homicidalism and drug addiction became irrisitable and set up even resisting Soviet global actions in Africa and especially Central America very very difficult. (essentially the US defense establishment hid heavy US participation in a full scale war to crush the Sandinistas and the Salvadorian MNLF). Reagan did save the day and the Soviet Union collapsed from within without massive injections of hard currency ‘credits’ and tech transfer. The left , however, learned how to ‘control the narrative’ and they have won everything ever since. Just examine the queer crusade which is a major tool in destroying normal US culture.
That was from the "Woke" EPA. It should be mentioned that other articles point out that Jackson has no shortage of friends, cousins, and various relatives of African tribal Chief Chokwe Antar Lumumba on the payroll of the City of Jackson. They all have high paying jobs with perqs, jobs for which they are absolutely unqualified in every respect except their skin color.
Jackson suffers the same problems of any other country or political jurisdiction run by Africans, Haiti for example. Jackson is a failed city. Nothing will fix it. Jackson could be infused with money tomorrow morning and it would make no difference in the long run. Members of Lumumba's tribe will only get richer while Jackson crumbles.
Exactly, just like corrupt third world countries or even Puerto Rico, they get millions for infrastructure but it never finds it’s way thee.
Could be anywhere in the US.
You see one Lumumba and you see another Obama. What’s the difference?
Vote for Africa, get Africa.
But it is whitey’s fault for ‘historical injustices’. I first heard that one in the late 1950’s from my liberal Jewish uncle. I noted that blacks absolutely wrecked much of NE DC in a few years. He said the historically deprived black people had never been allowed to develop a civilized culture and the destruction rural Southern blacks were wreaking on DC and other cities was ‘the justice of history’ and whitey would just have to endure it, maybe forever as the offences against black people were immeasurable and impossible to ever assuage. I thought it was bs, but Uncle Morris was a very articulate know it all neo-marxist government employee.
This is what happens with people to whom reality is negotiable.
This is what happens regularly in Africa, in third world nasty spot.
And the U.S. Media ignores reality, instead claiming whiteness causes it.
True insanity.
Morris was a commie in his youth, ‘respected’ the Soviet Union and firmly believed Stalin was the greatest man in history. I got to hear his commie lectures a lot. Blacks just seemed to be savages who have only gotten worse. Slavery and JimCrow seem more and more understandable to me as necessary control regimes on a population that is truly primitive by evolutionary standards and libs only want that group to be worse so they can control their vote and use them to try and terrorize whitey. What is coming is real third world communal violence.
What this reminds the attentive observer of is the classic collapse of established systems once their managers are replaced by incompetents more interested in a misguided program of social justice than running their systems, most specifically in the replacement of competent employees by party cronies. These tend to talk a good game, especially when never challenged, but the facts on the ground are broken systems. For example, consider how closely these data remind us of the collapse of Venezuela's power systems under exactly those circumstances:
It means there was no revenue to fix things. No revenue to hire staff. No revenue to purchase chemicals or equipment (as shown in a water operator's emails). No staff meant no maintenance. More and more of the plant depended on back-up parts as the first-line parts failed, never replaced.
"continuous monitoring equipment" at O.B. Curtis was "not repaired or calibrated" for over three years. pH meters, flow measurement devices, and other crucial equipment were not maintained.
No one knew if the membrane filters worked because no maintenance was performed.
No money for maintenance, operating on spare parts whose inventory was never replenished, staff flight when impossible demands turned the workplace into a nightmare. We've seen this all before. The only real work done during any of this was a vigorous and generally successful effort to shift blame and cover up culpability. The problem won't be fixed by the politicians and managers in place and they can't be replaced. That's life under socialism.
Excellent article. Thanks for posting.
New Orleans Sewage and Water Board, even the blacks loudly complained that the black supervisors were ignorant thugs who tried physical force to intimidate the workforce over complaints about the impossibility of maintaining a plant with no spares and no competent managers.
“white flight”
How about a wall to keep the whites in?
If anyone thought the true cause was anything other than internal theft, corruption, and deceit, it is because they actually read/watch AND BELIEVE our ENEMEDIA!!
Anyone with a modicum of common sense KNEW, before this was written, exactly what actually happened in Jackson!
I have an employee, who is black and from the Jackson area, who told me when this broke...it was caused by kickbacks and corruption within the city management, council, and/or Mayor’s office. Coincidentally, it seems he was correct.
92 degrees in Jackson, MS right now...
From a purely empirical viewpoint, Louisiana’s infrastructure improved dramatically under Bobby Jindal’s leadership as governor, especially in terms of road conditions and rest stops. We always skirted around NOLA, reputedly a hotbed of mismanagement.
