I flew home to England from New York for Her Majesty the Queen’s funeral on Saturday. It was a snap decision, but after missing her historic Platinum Jubilee only months ago, I decided that I couldn’t possibly miss the funeral of the only Queen I’ve ever known.
I arrived in London Gatwick and first made my way to Brighton before later planning to journey to London. I had an appointment at the Palace of Westminster to see the Queen lying in state in Westminster Hall that afternoon.

Eh, the propaganda about the monarchy is almost as strong over here — after the better part of a century of having endless Brit propanda TV series on our own state-run TV, etc.
I took it as when Diana died people threw flowers at the hearse. From what I remember it was just covered in them.
Amazing that 2 million people there to see her on the streets - 4 billion watching on TV - 200 world leaders at a reception - people waiting up to 24 hours to see her......and yet Americans somehow think the British doesn’t want the Monarchy.....if she wasn’t honored and appreciated nobody would show up......
Subordination of the States was inherent in the Constitution as George Mason and Patrick Henry warned. Lincoln made this total. The 17th Amendment contributed but wasn’t the cause
Old Joe was an SOB. He had his daughter lobotomised so she wouldn’t embarrass the family. Didn’t even bother to tell his wife until after the fact.
Bastard.
It’s sad how we, in this country, have families like the Kennedys, Bidens, Obamas, and Clintons and they are treated like royalty. And certainly act like it.
Funny how they’re all democrats, isn’t it?
I think with Diana it was sincere public grieving. I saw comparisons of the flowers then and now. Stark contrast.
This time, I believe all is staged and planned - part of ‘Operation London Bridge Is Down’.
No need to be nasty
You can dislike the monarchy all you want. Elizabeth was a remarkable woman She will be missed ….even if not by you
I was concerned for the motorcycles hitting flowers and having an accident..
Sadly too many have no love or knowledge of history
Thank you

Populist. People bring flowers instinctively. That carpet of flowers for the hearse was a natural need for the people throwing them. Elizabeth was loved, as was Diana. There won’t be a carpet like that when Charles’ time comes.
Bravo! Well played Sir ;)
That might be an urban legend. There is ample evidence that Englishmen are unfamiliar with toothbrushes.
>>but as we have seen people are not, in reality created equal.
At the time, “equal” was specifically in terms of legal privileges and standing. For example, equal access to the courts and equal application of the law.
It is true that admission to the bar, wealth, and political office make our system less equal than it should be.
But the ‘equal’ they had in mind was not about success in life, such as income, assets, education or athletic ability, etc.
Ya missed one. The Bush Dynasty. Good Times ;(
