Now a days, anytime airbags are deployed the car is pretty much totaled. The reason is that the dash boards are so complex with circuits, gauges and fancy electronics and they are so often totally destroyed by the airbag deployment that it just costs too much to repair.

Now a days, anytime airbags are deployed the car is pretty much totaled. Yes, that's what I've heard, if the car is a couple of years or more old (not so much on brand new models.) It's amazing. Even fender-benders will total a car today if it is old enough.
