I was a young’un in the 60’s. My family was in beautiful GITMO. Cubans would come onto the base during the day to work as gardeners, maids, bus drivers , etc.
One day our maid came in shaking. The army had gone into her village in the middle of the night and had shot off the locks on every house. They said good revolutionaries would never lock their doors. From that point on, anyone could walk into their home and take whatever they wanted.
