••Ukraine Energy Grid Explained:
The power generation system of Ukraine and power distribution system was attacked by a Russian military. They attacked several power generation stations. As a result of this attack, the whole power generation system system is starting to collapse. There is a rolling blackouts going throughout through entire country; it was stopped by disconnecting this damage for power hungry region from the rest from this area in the west; they were without electricity for some time.
As a result of that what happened is two nuclear power stations where disconnected from the grid and went in hibernation mode to self shut down to prevent any negative outcome. Also railroad traffic stopped on the eastern side of the Dnipro River where Ukrainian military is using the railroad to transport everything to the troops here on the front line.
••Why the Russian Attacked:
Today or yesterday Ukrainian head of national council gave a speech and essentially changed the goal of the war, right up till now, it was purely defensive war with the aim of regaining lost territories which also includes Crimea.
What he stated is that Ukraine not only wants to regain the territories, but also wants to demilitarize Russia. He wants to prevent Russia from being able to start the war in the future, because his idea is that this war ends Russia withdraws, but then in 5-10 years Russia will start this war again. His plan is to remove Russia’s ability to be able to wage any aggressive wars in the future. He was just as a talking head; the decision has been made not by him, but way above him.
That was one thing, the other thing is Zelenski, the day before, announced Ukraine is going to be exporting electricity from Melitzka nuclear power station to Poland to earn money. For those who follow or who just pay attention to things in the world, they know that the price of electricity right now is astronomical in Europe, due to all of the bad energy policies in Europe.
This gives an opportunity to earn some money for for Ukraine, probably also means people in the Ukrainian political leadership will get enriched in corrupt ways. Nevertheless it’s still bringing money to Ukraine.
This upset Russian political leadership, so they decided to kill many, many birds with these shots: first they’re responding to this speech about the militarization, saying stop or we’re gonna totally destroy the entire energy infrastructure, turning the country into the Stone Age. Not to mention, they probably can use tactical nuclear weapons to do that.
That was response to the announcement, plus it also deprives Ukraine of the ability to export electricity to Poland, undermines it economically, and Ukraine’s ability to to continue the war, and destroys the economy even further; it was 30, 40% of what used to be. Now its going to get even lower.
The Ukrainian economy, at this point, is virtually destroyed; the only area that still works is agriculture and probably outsourced IT services - that’s the only two working parts of Ukrainian economy that still do something, by destroying Ukrainian economy and the Ukraine’s ability to wage the war and to the demilitarized Russia with the help of the west.
This very clearly understood that this is coalition against Russia that’s waging the war, and yes it’s being done on Ukraine territory, but really it’s a vast collective west, and Ukraine defending itself against Russian aggression, and now turning the tables and making Russia pay the price for its aggression.
Ukrainian military is using the railroad extensively to bring everything to the front line and take back and back and forth. Because of this attack, the railroad traffic ground to a halt on the eastern side of of Dnipro River, preventing Ukrainian military from being able to build up and move troops quickly, to exploit the gains in Kharkiv region.
The final reason why Russian leadership did it, is there was a lot of discontent inside of Russia because of this disaster in in Kharkiv region, so they need to put it down somehow, and show some huge progress, some huge advances, and big results. That was achieved.
It remains to be seen if this is going to be a continuous action, or this is just one off, given the whole nature of the war, it’s probably gonna continue maybe not right now, maybe later again, but that’s where it is at this point; the war is more and more escalating to total war.
••Military Situation:
D-1 M1943 Soviet 152mm howitzers from 1943 from World War II:
It hasn’t seen much action on the front line, nevertheless, it the production started in 1943. Now there are reports that Russian military is taking from reserves or from storage, from inventory storage facilities D-1s and sending them to the troops. The reason for that is not so much shortage of artillery cannons as shortage of certain types of ammunition that being used for 152mm howitzers.
Plus the barrels, which is the most important piece of any artillery has been used up pretty extensively, and the more you use it, the less precise the cannon shoots. There are a lot of reports that there is certain number of shots that you can have before the precision drops significantly, and you literally need to replace the barrel.
There are reports that many Russian artillery pieces are reaching that threshold level, and they need new barrels. Apparently the industry cannot produce enough and as a result they pull out this old howitzers.
They use the D-20 right now which is the same; there’s no huge difference - well it’s actually more like ML-20 that was created in Soviet Union before World War II so that one is reminding more that one. Nevertheless, they are old, old equipment. The point is this old equipment is the effective range is only 13 kilometers; so this is relatively a short short distance support.
The whole Kup’yars’k offensive is over. There is no more progress - it stopped on the Oskil River.
Ukrainian troops are controlling this whole area between the rivers; they eliminated the Izyum bridgehead, and the Russian command decided to withdraw and abandon the buffer zone next to Kharkiv.
Most of the Kharkiv region is being liberated by Ukrainian troops. At the same time there are significant losses of material by Russian troops during this withdrawal; there’s large number of tanks, all all kind of ammunition, all kind of equipment that’s been captured by Ukrainian army. The majority of the Russian infantry managed to escape.
This means that it will probably will take some time to rebuild those troops, to equip them with equipment and so on, but they will be back on the front line relatively soon given the whole situation. Russian command is desperately needing more infantry on the front line, so they will be back pretty pretty soon.
There is a huge euphoria and almost irrational exuberance in Ukraine with respect to this victory, which, while it’s definitely a big success, most of the Russian units managed to escape. They they have another day to fight, and this this war is not coming closer.

••Russian troops are withdrawing in moving back to the Russian territory. Ukrainian troops are slowly moving forward and basically taking control of the whole state border area. The same is going on here between the rivers, Silverski Donets River and Oskil River.
At the same time Ukrainian troops are building the front line on the western side of this Oskil River. Russian troops are doing the same on the eastern side of the Oskil River which is definitely not a big river by any means, so it’s relatively easily to ford, except in some areas, the river by itself is really like relatively shallow.
The front starts at Dvorichna in the north, then goes south through Kup’yars’k with Russian troops are controlling eastern side of Kup’yars’k. Ukraine troops control Sen’kove.
It looks like Russian troops actually managed to build defensive line on the eastern side of Sen’kove. Then there is an artificial lake which is somewhat of a barrier for the both sides, a good separation line. Whatever is going to happen here is going to be north of Sen’kove; probably Kup’yars’k will become area of non-stop fighting. The more important part is actually here let’s actually look at the former Izyum bridgehead which was evacuated by Russian troops.
This is where Ukrainian command is trying to create bridgehead on the eastern side of Silverski Donets River with the idea of then liberating all of the Luhansk region. So far the Ukrainian troops were not successful is actually capturing Lyman so it’s still largely in Russian hands. They are somewhere on the southern outskirts of it, but there is no success, also the village Yanpil’ is still in Russian hands.
It looks like Russian command managed to to stop the panic and gain some control; Russian troops are starting to dig in and preparing for defensive fights. It’s unclear where the Russian troops are right now in this forest area.
The bridgehead on the south side of Silverski Donets River, near Lyman which Ukrainian troops forces so far failed to really establish, but the goal of it is Svatove, the big hub for Russian troops in this whole area and even bigger hub is Startobil’sk to the east.
You can move south and destroy the whole Russian units that are attacking near Bahamut, if you can attack from the rear. This is potentially a pretty important bridgehead, pretty dangerous. Russian command is doing everything they can to stop Ukrainian troops from building that bridgehead.
- North Donbass area:
••Central Donbas: Here it’s actually interesting because there are Russian troops are attacking the same time Ukrainian troops are trying to attack. This is probably a result of the euphoria that’s starting to be in Ukrainian troops, where they saying that Russian forces are totally collapsing and they just that the war is over.
So they tried to attack and the attack was pretty unsuccessful, pretty poorly organized. You can see video floating of that attack; it’s it’s it’s definitely an example of how not to do an attack. As a result Ukrainian troops lost and and retreated; you can see there are still big problems in Ukrainian command, Ukrainian troops in terms of actually doing right things and being successful and at tactical level.
- Donetsk West: no changes.
Vugledar - Velyka Novosilka, Gulyapole:
••Russian sources are reporting that Ukrainian command is accumulating troops in Vugledar region; they think that the goal is to attack towards the southeast and with your final goal is Mariupol’.
We don’t know if this is incredible, we just want to just sharing it on a face value basis because there’s a lot of misinformation. At the same time we think it’s important. Most of the Ukrainian units are still up in the Khakive region regrouping and so on, it would be very strange if there were an attack here.
The front line near village Pisky: Ukrainian troops decided to counter attack with the goal of capturing Pisky, but they were not successful; they lost one tank and probably that was it, hopefully.
- Kherson bridgehead: no changes.
US Air Force spy plane watching Kherson Mykolaiv front right now.
Antonivsky Bridge hit ten more times (literally). Apparently, an SUV had been seen to make its way over the bridge.
Russian forces falling back toward Kherson City in the South, reportedly to be under the cover of Artillery fans from the other side of the River.
