i understand that, my question is how they know where the clots are, and then how to dissect them out?

embalmers aren’t doctors too now are they?

is this something that happens now and again or is this wholly new?

There apparently was a long tradition of morticians being the local coroner when most places were too podunkish for having their own big city coroner. Local doctors took the job too.
