Until the election of 2000, electoral maps charts of the United States used red for Democrat wins and blue for Republican wins. The media flipped them. I don’t think they liked people to learn about all the references to communism for red. The flags of the most brutal totalitarian countries like North Korea, China, Soviet Union, etc are red.
