I have read that at least for UK film makers they can’t get funding unless there are roles for “minorities” even if they have to shoehorn them in, e.g. a black Anne Bolyen in the recent 99th remake of the story of Henry the 8th _ He done her wrong!
Wow, that explains why ALL of the UK-based TV shows (usually set in the 1800s or earlier) my husband and I watch have black and/or gay characters -- where it makes NO sense in the story to have them. Just ridiculous and annoying. They take great pains to make everything appear so historically accurate -- yet ruin the whole thing with race-based wokeism.
