From the Chatter & Unconfirmed Rumor Department comes these tidbits of info:

The 708th Military Transport Aviation Regiment based at Taganrog suffered an unspecified incident in the past 48 hours. Unknown if there were any fatalities but several injured personnel were evacuated by train for treatment elsewhere.

The 28th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade based near Mirny appears to have ceased operations in that location. They were moved from Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk Oblast in 2016 and elements of the 28th have been destroyed during the Ukraine War. It is estimated that the remainder of the brigade has been sent to Ukraine.

The 20th Missile Brigade based in Spassk-Dalny, Primorsky Krai removed its twelve Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile systems and they’re reportedly now deployed in the Novorossiysk area.

The awkwardly named ‘Operational Group of Russian Forces in the Transnistria region of the Republic of Moldova’ has had a problem with both suicides and desertions reportedly due to lack of supply, lack of r&r, and a “deteriorating command structure”. Russian veterans in the local PMR militia are reportedly being approached to serve as officers for the isolated/abandoned unit #13962.

That is all.

Democracies building up militaries. From Germany to Japan.

“Japan is set to approve what could be its biggest increase in defense outlays since the end of the war, putting it on a path to become one of the world’s top military spenders.

In a Defense Ministry budget request for fiscal 2023 expected by the end of August, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s ruling party is looking to double spending over five years from this year’s 5.4 trillion yen ($39.5 billion). Outlays of that scale could propel Japan from ninth in the world for military spending to a likely third spot behind the US and China, according to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, or SIPRI, which tracks defense spending.

Japan plans to reach an arsenal of about 1,000 missiles that can be fired from ships and planes and reach into North Korea and China, the paper said.”
