John, I thought that this was a real headline, not one of your satires.

Are modern politics making your job harder or easier?

Um, this was already done, for real. Scientists recreated the H1N1 virus that caused the 1917-1919 pandemic back in 2005. The reason for this research was to investigate why that pandemic was so deadly and, hopefully, to use that knowledge to prevent or mitigate another deadly pandemic. Our government did keep close watch on this research to prevent it from being misused.

Even before Covid showed up, pandemic research was placed on high priority by governments all over the world. Our success in developing mitigation measures for Covid—masks, social distancing, hand washing, and vaccines—was only made possible by decades of anti-pandemic research conducted by thousands of scientists all over the world. It’s a shame that certain anti-human groups spread so much misinformation about Covid and vaccines, seriously undermining the public health efforts.

Hi. Good work.

But, some of the satire you have posted in the past has come true, right?

Still...

Very good satire.
