A fairly common practice in school districts. Steamrolling no-bid contracts so certain palms are greased. In this case, the exposition of that practice EXPLODED out into the open at the Osceola School Board meeting.

My wife retired from public ed with 30 years...went on to teach and retire again at a state college. We used to keep up with the local board meetings and the lunatics that were continuously voted in or re-elected. Always, always just one big grudge match. The most telling piece of evidence proving the board’s poor performance was their inability to find and keep a good school superintendent. Should’ve had a revolving door installed in the Super’s office. Needless to say, the district remains in a constant state of bedlam with little and/or constantly changing leadership.

We finally had to stop watching the meetings for our own sanity.

so, after listening to this, my opinion is that this is probably the most important video you have ever posted.

It exposes the soft white underbelly of the local state and whomever that shrill woman was, needed to be dropkicked back to the constitution, or some place like that.

Sounds like they had a consultant they paid for a recommendation. He recommended his own company. They increased the amount of the contract and awarded the contract to the consultant’s company in a no bid process. Why?

Just about anything at the county (even in many cases state!) is done that way.

In some rural states the school system & county governments are the biggest employer and often controlled by a couple of families. Down right medieval, all is needed is the appropriate titles of nobility.

I would say, “Ocala, Florida? Not my business, not my burden.” However, it is my business since it is the same every where I know of. Show me one gooberment entity from the bottom to the top that is not on the make or take or crooked to the core in some way or another. The longer the pubic servants are in place the more corrupt they become.

A friend resigned a small screwl board because once he got in he just knew they were gong to be investigated and someone would go to jail. It didn’t happen.

This is the only state I know of where the counties are not allowed to own equipment. It has to be bought by the state and leased to the county by the state pool. They just moved the corruption from the local to state jurisdiction. As I recall that was a federal action taken years ago. This was about the time that our former governor was finally convicted of racketeering for crimes committed while still in office. He got off light.
