It seems like all the traditional conservative ideas are soundly repudiated by this new generation of purists. To them it is better to have a government run by democrat-communists than to have sound conservative ideas that have been around for hundreds of years.
The only chance of democrats holding Congress in November is if people are content with the way things are going now and want more of it.
