We should be getting rid of the IRS instead of growing it. Go to a national sales tax. That way, when congress raises taxes, everybody feels the pain and pays the price. Then, maybe voters would be less inclined to vote for tax and spend politicians.

Or... get rid of with holding.

Have everyone pay their taxes in cash or check just before they vote.

Instead of getting a refund and thinking the government is great for giving them some of their money back, taxpayers would be furious and vote differently.
