His claim is that the number was 4m. He delved into it in great detail, and might even be right. His other claim is that Auschwitz was primarily a labor, not death camp. Basically, Nazi sympathizers and white supremacists used his claims to suggest the real number was zero, whereas his actual claims were more of a statistical, technical nature - not that the Holocaust did not occur, but that the numbers were wrong. It’s like saying that one-day firebombing of Tokyo killed 70,000 rather than 100,000 people. Not a denial of the event per se, but a technical footnote.
