Does it matter now? The end of ICE vehicles is pretty much fait accompli. The wheels are in motion, and it isn’t going to stop.
If you buy an ICE vehicle now, there is no reason why you cannot keep it going for 20+ years if you maintain it well.
If you are outside the sunbelt, you can keep certain cars going indefinitely.
It is time to go full-Cuba on this.

It is time to go full-Cuba on this.Free Traitors™, mostly Republicans and Liberaltarians , ensured the aftermarket car parts industry was offshored to places like China. So look for car parts to be nixed or become prohibitively expensive and then it will take time to ramp up domestic production ( if "they" allow it ). So no going Cuba. Thanks, Free Traitors™.

The grid won't handle all the EVs and lithium mining constraints will impact production. Plastics and lubricant production will revert to coal as natural gas will be required to fill in the gaps on green energy. Good news is that food production will dwindle due to the attack on nitrogen, which will do two things. 1) Remove the wealth from individuals and give it to our wise leaders and 2) Starve a large part of the earth which will reduce electrical demand and free up capacity on the grid for EVs.
So basically, it's a win-win. /s
