Who is the “Mr. Miller” referred to in that excerpt? Christopher Miller who was Acting Secretary of Defense at that time.
Also, it sounds like the “protesters” Trump was worried about were possible counter-protesters (Antifa et al), not his own supporters. After all, it was leftists who had been attacking public buildings and monuments, and Trump supporters who had been criticizing them.

My comment - which was a hunch, not a claim - was based on Trump's comment that he wanted to guarantee "a safe event." He had held dozens of rallies, and his supporters were always orderly and peaceful. The only trouble came from disrupters, and Trump might have feared the presence of a large numbers of organized and unruly opposition on January 6th. (I think many of us did.) With such a large contingent of his own supporters tangling with Antifa/BLM types, it could have gotten ugly. I don't think Trump expected his own supporters to storm the Capitol after he and his own supporters had been condemning the BLM rioting just a few months earlier.
