I've been shooting all my life, although nowhere as much a I would have liked, and I don't think I could have done that well. A few folks here mention young eyes -- yep, that counts for a lot. I do think I still would have gotten enough hits to neutralize the threat at that range, but that depends how much the perp was moving, which I haven't read anywhere. Less is more.
It is good and useful to evaluate these events, and put yourself in the same position. Always room for improvement. Again, this kid did good. Very good.
I’d like to know if he was using factory iron sights or a red dot optic.
I’ve been resisting pistol optics on the basis that 1. long range shots are highly unlikely and 2. most of the pistols I’ll pick up will be iron sights.
The church hero a few years back was a pistol instructor with an optical pistol sight.
If Dickens used an optical sight, the case is going to get a lot stronger for going that direction.
Of course, there is a lot to say for strong young 20-something eyeballs, iron sights or optical.
