I think it is basically clickbait with all these websites trying to keep themselves going. There is plenty enough truly harmful stuff the left is doing to get people fired up. It just takes a little more talent and discipline to rise above the rest of the pack writing about that stuffm. So, they use sensationalism as a shortcut to get the clicks/money.
