Mitch is always focused on how he can build a majority so as to win big votes on truly critical conservative issues. He'll lose votes on smaller issues, take purely political stances on other issues, or back RINO incumbents, if that's what it take to build that majority.

That's why he was so completely furious at McCain on Obamacare. The cost of Mitch always backing you is that you don't go back on your word to him, and McCain did.

Mitch can be infuriating, but he is an incredibly effective politician.
