Here's the main thing I've taken away from it so far: the whole Hollywood culture is full of what are essentially grifters, top to bottom, from major names to countless nobodies.
The people who are at the top of the food chain are largely there through luck, either because of some narrow, freakish talent, or because of unusual beauty, or because they are the first- or second-generation offspring of someone who had those lucky characteristics.
At any given moment in time, the people at the top of the food chain are employing the lower levels to do all kinds of odd jobs for them, some legitimate, some illegal, some horrifying. Whatever the imagination can conceive of, that's what the upper levels of the pyramid pay to have done.
But here's the thing. Because they got where they are from luck, they're pretty much all average schlubs, just underneath the veneer that their talent or otherwise luck-bestowed money can buy them. Mostly they don't know what they're doing, but they here about other people's ideas and schemes, and try to adapt them to their own modest level of life skills.
This is true across all levels of the pyramid, right to the top. Alec Baldwin and Woody Allen are complete noodniks, other than for their very narrow gifts.
Although for brains, I'll take Allen over Baldwin any day.
In any other category of human value, both are schlubs with money.
Thanx for the heads up. I just now ordered it on Audible.
.... don’t forget the fawning media wanna-be’s just trying to get that gig by up marketing their local talent....last but not least, the people who have very little responsibility who watch the medias’ products constantly
