He’s the worst form of human being, educated at Berkeley and calls himself a conservative, when he’s far from it, wants endless war and would never go on the same continent of a hot war
I was in college when he wrote regularly for the student newspaper. I don’t know him, and never met him, but in his column, he posed as a full-spectrum conservative railing against the leftism of the university, its students/faculty and the city. He certainly had a lot material to work with. He constantly played up his background as a refugee from the Soviet Union, and he was a vocal anti-communist. Looking back on it, was he sincere? Or was it shtick? I have no idea. I suspect that, like a fair number of other secular Jewish neocons, his disdain for the Christian right is a motivating factor in his behavior.
