Sandmann’s case was nothing like Rittenhouse’s.
Sandmann literally did nothing but stand still and smile while an activist drummed in his face. And the media went wild with smears. It was the actions of others that made him a public figure.
Rittenhouse shot 3 people, killing 2 of them in self defense. But it was his own actions that made him a public figure.
It’s a lot harder case to argue.
A court will just say Kyle is a “public figure” and not protected by libel and slander. Sandmann was unknown.
