One time my work took me to Detroit, and I found myself walking the streets on a weekend as the only white guy in sight.
There I was, photographer vest, sunglasses, walking confidently. The black guys hanging on the corner would call out to me “hello officer!”, and I would nod and keep walking, projecting an attitude of “It’s all cool, just passing through”.
And yes I did have my gun under the vest.
Good story. I’m sure it helps your confidence to actually have that gun under your vest.
