Same here. Been buying a side of beef and a whole hog every year for a long time - need a decent sized freezer for it but WELL WORTH IT in quality and cost.
Triple digits with no end in sight.
It likely will not impact supply and demand. Same with bird flu/chickens. The real shortages are due to folks clearing shelves because panic. Sad when folks cause stores to limit/lock up toilet paper, pasta and formula because panic buyers. Chill out. It’s not the reset. You have already survived most of it (2017-2024).
Soylent Green is OUR future!
Terrorists. We invite all these low life’s into our county… what do we expect? Oh wait… fentanyl in the reservoirs?
Yes, a few years ago I had about 40 in a lot for the afternoon to load to sell that evening. THe temp was about 90 with very high humidity and no wind. 4 were down in a hurry so I got the others out to the small pasture with the pond. So, yes the right combination can do them in in a hurry.
Outdoor hogs would be worse as they do not sweat.
Insurance might want proof of what caused the deaths of that many before paying.
Herds of Angus have made it through weeks of highs between 105 and 110 just fine in the past. I’ve worked with them. Something else must have killed those cattle. Maybe lack of water or some disease or toxin.
Maybe lack of water or some disease or toxin. Either one of those conditions, or the report is a hoax.
We are so screwed.
‘Someone’ is making war on the American populace and we the people are too dumbed down to recognize we are losing ‘someone’s’ war on US.
This makes no sense. Here in Texas it is common to have multiple days of 100 plus temperature. So long as the cattle have adequate water it is not a problem.
AgDaily says it was 108 where the largest die offs occurred, combined with high humidity and no breeze.
Part of the problem is CAFO. In June when the weather turns hot quickly the animals are out there on packed dirt, no shade, no mud and not enough human attention to notice and get them cooled off. By the time somebody does notice, it’s too late. Shitty corporate farm practices.
Which is why I buy local farm direct from a guy who has 30 head and not 3000.
As long as they have enough water they can handle 90 degrees fine. I grew up with dairy cows, grazing happily in 90 degree sun. When they came in for milking they got their fill of water and were no worse for wear.
They’re trying to kill us. We are at war - we just don’t know it yet.
What!
90’s in Kamsas, in the “dog days” of Summer!
When did that start happening?
