If something CAN be done and there’s a motivation FOR it to be done then it WILL be done.
We’ve moved into an era where the powers that be realize that a virus can supersede existing laws & rights without a fight. It can be a freedom killer and enable them to impose their “solution”...control over everything and everyone.
We have defined no metrics to monitor that need to cross a specified threshold before the triggering of “emergency powers” can be enacted. We know “cases” isn’t the metric. Is it “deaths”? How many? How about “potential deaths would be saved”? IMO there should be no emergency powers over a virus. Just issue “emergency recommendations” and we’ll follow them all if we see bodies in the streets.
We need to have a better answer to “virus emergency powers”. They will keep coming unless we figure out a method of stopping tyrants that will take advantage of them.
Same way AIDS was distributed in the beginning.
Not to hard to figure out, once you look at its vectors.
