If you pay close attention, China is now distancing itself rather rapidly from Russia at least on the surface. There is a brisk arms trade from China to Russia now for the moment, just no way to get the gear to Ukraine. China wants Russian oil/coal of course, but they also are quite worried about the concept of western sanctions against them. (Given their export driven economy.)
Even with Bidet in the White Hut and a Obama pulling the strings, Xi isn’t in a good place politically in China right now - Deng Xiaoping’s adherents are raising hell in the Politburo, hence the Shanghai lockdown. (Note that Shenzhen has been put back to work - that’s Fujian where Xi is from… (He was the mayor of Xiamen on his way to premier.)
Palace intrigue is rampant right now in both Russia and China. And here….
These lockdowns have nothing to do with covid.
