IMHO Carter was the perfect embodiment of a very high IQ person that is a perfect idiot. Nuclear engineering degree and navel career before peanut farming and politics. World's loudest kumbiya singer of his time. His brother Billy probably would have been a better President. Billy would have solved problems by working them out with folks over a bucket of iced long necks.
I was pretty young when Carter was pres.....was he intentionally trying to run the country into the ground just to build a liberal utopian society or was he just incompetent?
Jimmy was a Christian and a nice guy who had no idea what was going on politically. He was left of center. However, the centerpieces of Carter’s appeal were his outsider status and his integrity. “I’ll never tell a lie,” Carter famously declared. “I’ll never avoid a controversial issue.” Remember that this was right after Nixon, and Ford had less Charisma than Joe Biden. The people that were picked for Carter to run his administration were hard core socialists who could lead him around like a bull with a nose ring.

I voted for Carter for these reasons:
* Honest
* Christian
* Educated (Physics)
* Navy guy (Same as me)
* Submarine guy (Same as me)
* Southern (Same as me)
* Far removed from Watergate/scandals
* Washington outsider
To this day, when I tell my son he's too liberal, he reminds me that when he was making his first vote ever for president, Gerald Ford, a Republican. that I was voting for a Democrat.

Diesel is +$6 per gallon in Central NY.
It’s way more expensive than in NH.
Gas is also around $4.40 per gallon in CNY as well.
Carter was also legendary for his micro-management.
That guaranteed that everything went wrong.

Diesel is already $7.00/gal in some areas of Pennsylvania.
And we know what happens -- my garbage collectors added a $24 fuel surcharge to their $79 normal 3-month bill = 30% increase, and that "trickles down" throughout the economy.
