He had been maneuvering the academic, media, and political elements in place for at least a decade and a half.
Nearly all the academic pieces were fraudulent in many ways.
The Media did its part by promoting mass shootings through making anti-heros of those who did it.
The push to emulate British gun control as superior members of society, and to demonize Australian gun owners was brilliantly done.
Then, the speed with which Howard acted, to insure no opposition voices were to be heard, was right out of the Marxist playbook: Never let a crises go to waste.
The ruling class never considered *any* downside to their actions, as they demonized and worked hard to destroy an entire subculture of Australians who lived and worked with firearms every day, and who had, and continue to have had, an enviable record of safety.
In the end, it was obvious the Global and Australian Media were far more responsible for the Port Arthur debacle than the Australian Gun Culture.
But Howard hated guns so much he was phobic about them. He was the perfect foil for Soros to accomplish his goals in Australia.
