Being able to see and feel the plant, and understand what a labor intensive crop is seems to be a reasonable teaching tool.

Yes, but nowadays the left actually looks for things to be "offended" by.

this is beyond ridiculous

I would expect a nice $$$ oayour from a lawsuit

Teaching facts about actual history is ‘racist’??? Even when it shows how difficult it was for slaves????

ISN’T THAT WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO SHOW PEOPLE??? HOW DIFFICUILT SLAVERY WAS???

They need to stop living in the past and focus on making the future better.

I had the same education about slavery and the cotton gin except the part about the plant having sharp and injurious points. The teacher was giving a very good lesson by actually showing the cotton plant.

He should have shown a pot plant instead.

We really are in the early stages of the Biblical Prophesy of what was once called good will be called evil and what was once called evil will be called good.

Your one up on me picking cotton.

This was complete discrimination! What ab7out tobacco? He couldn’t bring in even one tobacco plant? I am incredibly offended by the teachers insensitivity.

I think the teacher ought to take the students on a field trip to a coal mine, hand them picks, and have them crawl through three foot wide tunnels digging coal, just to show them some free white man’s work.

That shouldn’t be traumatizing.

You need to understand:

To the left, EDUCATION is culturally insensitive.

Yeah, this white boy grew up in south Georgia. I picked cotton, tobacco, string beans, all kinds of stuff.

Never once thought about slavery. Guess I was taught wrong.

part of the Democratic policy of treating black people as infants

Seems to work. They vote Democratic about 95% of the time. And yeah, it has the effect of keeping the blacks on the bottom of the social and economic ladder, just as intended.

...because his invention took over the task.

It was not Whitney's invention. Whitney stole it from Black men who were kings! And who flew in paper gliders from Memphis to Knoxville thousands of years before the white man was ever seen in the south! Whitney just claimed to invent it so he could get rich off the genius of the Black man!

RACISTS! ...ALL OF YOU!

Living in the past makes them easier to control.

The word ‘cotton’ is the trigger. If you say the word around a leftist, you are a racist. A little surprised the cotton industry hasn’t been banned from the U.S. yet.

As a youth in the late 40’s, I picked cotton while dragging a tar-bottomed sack. We covered the sack bottoms with tar to give them longer life. After the tar hardened, we tore off chunks and chewed it like gum.
We were paid by weight. My best day ever was 97 cents. Bloody fingers every time.

Retraumatized? Retraumatized who? One idiot? In college my history professor would dress up in character from the era or theme. During the civil war lectures he wore a Southern Gray outfit and brought a musket. On another he was Yankee Blue with his musket. He had revolutionary war replica soldier outfits and British officer uniforms. I would imagine today he would have been arrested and the school would have trauma counselors in every class. We all thought it was great.
