The one question that all politicians running for US Senate should be asked is – whether they stand with President Trump or Mitch McConnell.

In a new book McConnell’s actions on Jan 6 were uncovered.
In the hours after supporters of Donald Trump laid siege to the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, House Republican Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly said he was “exhilarated” that the then-president had finally tarnished his reputation.
“I feel exhilarated by the fact that this fellow finally, totally discredited himself,” McConnell told Jonathan Martin, a New York Times reporter who detailed the exchange in a new book, “This Will Not Pass.” Excerpts of the book were obtained and reported on by The Washington Post on Monday.
“He put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger,” the Kentucky Republican reportedly told Martin at the U.S. Capitol in the early hours of Jan. 7. “Couldn’t have happened at a better time.”
He also asked the political correspondent for intelligence on whether the Cabinet and vice president might considering removing Trump from office using provisions of the 25th Amendment, according to the book.
McConnell then reportedly told Martin he had spoken to Democratic leaders, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and then-Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), about releasing a joint statement telling Trump not to attend President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Thoughts become words. Words become actions. The latter two expose you. However, sometimes actions can be “explained away” until your words condemn you by exposing WHY you took those actions.
As you say, he’s fully exposed. He’s just part of the good ol’ boy uniparty. That seems to be going away, though it is in a sort of last gasp. That can actually make it quite dangerous - the wounded bear analogy and all that...

Thank you Ky for lubricating this turd into the political leadership of our party. We need 26 to get him out. It angered me beyond bounds everytime he left the senate in session so Trump count not make recess appointments. Accident? Hell no.
ON senate approvals of SC justices, he let the last charade go through when there was no vacancy.

He has been saying this kind of thing all along.
How so? He’ll be Majority Leader again with all the powers that come with it. There needs to be some kind of scandal created to get him to step down whenever we take back the house but before the presidential election in 2024. Trump could then preside as president with a loyal fresh new majority leader he can trust who’ll work with him

I mean no offense, but do you really feel this way? We can get rid of them, now by voting them out. We couldn’t keep any good ones under term limits. We may not even get any, as it would devolve to swoop-and-grab.
The US Constitution is full of edits and re-edits of how government is chosen. Most break the system worse than before.
To me, term limits is just throwing your hands in the air and adopting random chance. You just hope this one will be good, but even if you’re wrong, he’ll be gone soon.
