I want to understand what is going on...

If that is really true you should look for sources that have some shred of credibility. Or you could just go watch old episodes of the Alex Jones show, or listen to old episodes of Art Bell's show for some really accurate information.

The members of that Marine Scout Sniper unit were apparently unaware of the history of that rune-based font they used as an abbreviation on their unit flag.

Sounds like an excuse cooked up by the Marine PR department to me.

If you actually read what the Azov people say they claim their symbolism goes back to 1600s era Ukrainian symbols. So maybe they are just confused about the history of symbols like the Marines are.

But this Russian soldier isn't so confused.

OK. I know now that any discussion of the history and facts of the situation will not happen here. If our minds are open, our preconceptions about the source should be less important than the arguments proffered. What ever happened to rational give and take? More and more FR is descending into the realm of simple slogans and name-calling.

Note that Bandera was killed by the KGB. Why was that? Probably because he wanted a free Ukraine.

A lot of ugly things happened in World War II. Several family members of the current president of the Ukraine were killed because of their faith during the war. Millions of Ukrainians were killed by Russian communists before World War II.

All of that is history, and should have no more influence on what is happening in the world today.

Do you think people living in Germany or Japan today should be treated differently because their governments were involved in starting the killing that happened during World War II?

I am all for rational give and take. But citing a couple of obscure propagandists who have been shown to have wrong opinions in the past doesn't contribute to a rational give and take.

There are plenty of sources that are worth discussing. But notice you are on a thread that is repeating propaganda about a very small group of people in Ukraine.

The repetitive posting of articles about a group of a couple of thousand people in Ukraine is intended for propaganda purposes. As are the videos made by people like Ritter.

Per capita there appear to be more "nazis" in the United States than in the Ukraine. Does that mean we have a nazi problem?

There are groups of military age men in the USA and Ukraine that pose with symbols associated with WW2 era nazis. Does that mean we have a "nazi" problem in the USA?

Don't be fooled by efforts to use Free Republic to disseminate pro-Russian propaganda.

The OUN and radical groups did this during WW2, it was outside of the waring factions. They not only fought the Russians, they fought the Germans also, while they committed genocide within that region.

They wanted a pure Ukraine, devoid of all other ethnic groups.

To this day, these bastards have quite a lot of support in the Ukraine..even BEFORE Putin started the incursion into the Ukraine. Matter of fact, it gave the little twerp a reason to invade the Ukraine.

Why would the Polish legislature pass laws BANNING Stepan Bandera ideology? A lot of the Ukraininas still hail him as a hero.

You need to get an education about these bastards.

No doubt you need to also think a little. Who in this present world has enough clout to support these bastards? Who was the Nazi collaborator who now is wanted in a few nations working behind the scenes to destroy?

“Your post plus...lead by a Nazi collaborator wanted in a few nations across the world...GEORGE SOROS”

HOW DARE YOU!!! Soros is a Good Guy here...but only here. Everything else he does is PURE EVIL, such as launching the massive Crime Wave in the US. But we need to TRUST him on Ukraine - because, uhhh, the Media tells us to. I guess.

Sounds like an excuse cooked up by the Marine PR department to me.

Your efforts on this thread to besmirch the United States Marine Corps in defense of the Ukrainian Nazis really is quite pathetic. Whether or not you find an anecdotal picture of a US militarily squad of young servicemen unaware of the history of a flag their unit may have captured in WWII, or if you find a questionable Ukrainian war propaganda photo of a Russian conscript with an unfortunate tattoo, the undeniable fact is that the Ukrainian leadership has supported real Nazis in their military and government for decades. The Ukrainian nation is inextricably linked to the Nazism they have permitted and supported.

They are supporting radical genocidal groups. Groups who have broad support within the Ukraine.

Can you believe it?

Lets be clear. As I told my wife’s Polish friend. Contain the thing and let the bastards kill each other off.

These punks on here would get a quick slap across the face if she ever heard them in person.

It's disgraceful we have funded and trained both ISIS in Syria and these neo-Nazi scumbags in Ukraine.

No, neo-Nazis are NEVER the good guys.

And, how many of the neocon and/or Deep Staters here downplayed are support for these animals and all we did to create a civil war in Ukraine that resulted in the persecution of the ethnically Russian population?

A nice mix of fact, opinion, and propaganda there.

“Ukraine is saturated with Nazi militias, organizations, and political parties.”

A fair argument during Poroshenko’s term of office, notwithstanding the disingenuous overlooking of related facts that led to Poroshenko’s election.

Putin repeatedly paid for Yanukovych’s elections, and even poisoned Yanukovych’s rival in 2004. Yanukovych was forever acting on Putin’s orders in the same model as Belarus’ Lukashenko. The last straw for Ukraine was when he unexpectedly rejected a pending and long planned EU association agreement, arranged a Russian loan bailout instead, and unilaterally signed up to closer ties with Russia without any consultation.

In doing so he single handedly triggered a near civil war. And after trousering the money Russia had given him for the bailout, he fled the country through Crimea to Russia and had the chutzpah to argue he was still President while revelling Putin’s hospitality. Putin’s been trying to get Yanukovych reinstated ever since, as Ukraine’s version of Lukashenko.

Poroshenko had a moral mandate to undo the russification of Donbass by Yanukovych but he unwisely empowered Azov’s neonazis to do it. In doing that he lost moral authority and Russia was able to play the victim card.

Zelenskyy got this issue thrown at him by Russia (fairly) in his first 3 months of office, so he banned a bunch of those parties, and the general election kicked all of the Nazis elected under Poroshenko out.

Funnily enough, Russia was so annoyed that their main reason for justifying their interference in Donbass was actually being addressed, they did the classic Russian thing of completely flipping their nothing burger on its head.

It can be summed up thus: Yesterday Zelenskyy was a nazi because there were Nazis in his parliament before he got elected, today he’s a nazi because they’ve been voted out of office but the Azov hadn’t been disbanded, and tomorrow he’ll be a nazi because he banned some Nazi parties. Oh - and he’s a nazi because Azov were not banned from defending their home town of Mariupol during a full scale Russian invasion.

“Children are taught to hate and kill ethnic Russians at indoctrination camps.”

This is what we used to call “Chinny Reckon” when i was a kid. How many ethnic Russian kids in Donbass and Mariupol used to attend such camps? Can’t ask those kids direct you see; some of them are buried under Russian made rubble, others were killed by Azov, a few thousand are enjoying a one way ticket to Siberia, and maybe half a million of them fled WEST into Europe.

The ethnic Russians were so pleased to see the Russian rescuers, they chose refugee camps inside Germany and Poland. Funny, because in the previous three years that Azov were supposedly rampaging through the population at a rate of one civilian a fortnight, almost NONE of them fled the country.

I think you believe you own what is true. There is always more than one side of any event…. If I lived in another time I would think being a Nazi is acceptable if it serves a Jewish person…
