Phoenix Police Officer Shot, Manhunt Underway For Armed And Dangerous Fugitive

Phoenix, AZ – A female Phoenix police officer was shot while responding to a domestic violence call on Thursday morning.

The incident began at approximately 10:15 a.m., when a woman called police from a Marathon gas station located near Beardsley Road and Cave Creek Road to report she was afraid of a possible confrontation with her boyfriend, 35-year-old Nicholas Cody Cowan, KTVK reported.

The woman told investigators Cowan had tried to commit suicide, “committed several criminal acts,” and threatened to “shoot it out” with law enforcement officers, according to police.

The Prescott Valley PD thought he was in the area (90 miles to the northwest of Phoenix) and surrounded a RV dealership late last night and brought out the SWAT and K9 units along with a DPS copter. But he was not found.

"The wounded 40-year-old officer, a 24-year veteran of the force, was rushed to Honor Health Deer Valley Medical Center, where she was taken into emergency surgery, KTVK reported."

So she joined the force when she was sixteen years old!

I wondered if they thought he was headed for Mexico...
