As long as there are plenty of Sticks and Stones

“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

America must keep its own defense as the primary military objective.

Securing America’s southern border would be a swell start.

As far as weapons for Ukraine, it seems like Europe could be doing more than it is doing, and all weapons for Ukraine should be sales not gifts even if payments are delayed until after the war is over.

As Ukraine Pummels Russians With Javelin Missiles, Can Production Keep Pace With Demand?

How many of those advanced MANPADS will be diverted and end up downing civilian jets?

“Will the United States Run Out of Javelins Before Russia Runs Out of Tanks?”

To answer the question: No. Besides, the Ukrainians have other ATGMs, like the NLAW and their own Stugna-P. And, the US is in the process of developing an even more modern ATGM.

Fun fact: Most of the Russian tanks and armored vehicles were not taken out by ATGMs.

Now that they’re liberating Meruopol, I suspect morale is improving.

The problem with all of this is that tanks are now useless weapons on the battlefield, ours as well as theirs. And so if your tanks are worthless you might as well use them to soak up anti-tank missiles. The real question is what will Russian tactics evolve to now that it is known to be very expensive in terms of tanks?

“Javelin...delivery time is 32 months”

Huh? That is outrageous. Call Elon Musk. He can kick butt and have them delivered in a quarter of that time.

We just sent out the technology to return us to the stone age - for free. Our global imperialsts are such geniuses and the Russian dolts are such losers.

Having been on the military industrial supply side for complez equipment I can tell you the surge capacity for complex items is zero. I would be surprised if the supplier could supply just fifty within 12 months.

So fun these assertions - like the Air Force telling McDonnel that the upcoming F4 fighter didn't need cannons as missiles would negate that need.

Or like manned aircraft are no longer needed due to MANPADS.

Infantry "protects" tanks - as long as there is a coordinated mechanized attack, an armored cannon can obliterate entrenched positions, pill boxes, apartment buildings used as sniper posts, etc.

The Ukrainians have their own, locally produced and exported ATGM, called the Stugna. It seems to be working well.

You are correct. But how much of what is useful will change a lot.

Thicker, more effective armor may have reached its limit.

Anti-missile defenses may become more important.

A screen of drones may be the answer.

Thus, the United States is approaching the point where it must reduce transfers to maintain sufficient stockpiles for its own war plans.

Against whom are we planning to go to war?

“The United States says it has provided 7,000 (Javelins) to Ukraine... (They are the) best known of the anti-tank weapon systems but not the most numerous. That distinction goes to the NLAW”

So at least 7,000 Javelins and 7,000 NLAWs, and untold thousands of other anti-armor Infantry weapons (AT-4s, LAWs, Carl Gustavs, Milans, Panzerfausts, RPGs, Stugna-Ps). More than two, for every vehicle that Russia drove into the Ukraine.
