Putin launches purge of Kremlin insiders, because [fill-in-the-blank].
The west concludes that Putin is a modern-day Hitler: irrational, likely suffering from paranoid delusions, and possibly viewing the conflict as an 'End of the World' scenario, due to a cultural 'messiah complex' and/or fatal illness.
