"Our data science team .. has been tracking the casualties and losses associated with the Russia-Ukraine war. .. #Ukraine has lost 1,969 tanks, or 91% of its equipment .. the armament of that army is rapidly depleting. I am not sure if this is a well known fact.” - @fundstrat
This numbers come from beneath the author’s hat.
These losses for both side are somewhat in line with that briefed by the Austrian General Staff on April 6. See chart at 6:28. https://youtu.be/baW0m83O99c
There is a good bit of truth that proportionally, the Ukraine has been attrited more than Russia’s forces, but it is not as bad as depicted. The Ukrainians have captured a fair number of Russian vehicles, and have received some replenishment from other countries.
Also, the majority of the old tanks in Russian inventory are not operational.
The Ukrainians are more constrained by materiel shortages, with a relatively lot of reserve personnel and volunteers. The Russians are relatively more constrained by shortages of trained and motivated personnel.
Also not included is the impact of Javelins, NLAWs and other anti-armor weapons. Probably 20,000 of various types have gone to the Ukraine.
UAVs 50 pre-invasion and lost 398 since invasion?
Do you have any ability to read a chart and see it makes no sense?
