My HS son wears a mask still, sometimes even after I pick him up from school. Walking outside and in the car.
I think that in a world that’s been upside down for years now, a major portion of his developing life, the mask makes him feel like he’s a little bit in control.
He’s not weak or indoctrinated or crazy. He’s a kid. He’s been through a lot. And I wish people would have the compassion to say “how are you feeling today?” instead of yelling propagandist BS at him ranting about what they think is on his mind (because that’s not what’s on his mind anyway). He’s not an enemy of anything or anyone. He’s just trying to make sense of it all and he’s minding his own business.
If your son CHOOSES to mask, he will get no flak from me. Whether it’s out of fear, following some third party’s rules or just virtue signaling, it’s his own business. I won’t be asking why; the mask says “stay away”.
If he tries to FORCE others to mask he’ll get plenty of flak.
But ask him this if the topic is discussed: Is there a shred of proof, or even evidence, that COVID masking has saved a single life anywhere at any time?
