I read in a book that Vlad The Impaler had an art to his “craft” and would sharpen and smooth his posts to a high degree, make sure they were amply lubricated, and the person was impaled slowly and carefully to ensure no vital organs were injured in the process.
I get the impression that a rough, splinter filled, un-lubricated, and carelessly inserted fence post would be amenable to many.
Gives a whole new meaning to “Riding The Rail”, which certainly had a place in our history as Americans.
But of course, we would not advocate that, since we don’t approve of violence.
