What if it was a White person slapping a Black person...what would the news cycle be like today?
Looks to me that this is something that could have waited and been settled backstage between slap happy Smith and Rock. Apparently, Smith has impulse control issues.
Another case of Black on Black violence and not a care in the world.
What could possibly happen, that would distract America and what’s left of the free World, from Joe Biden’s performance in Europe this last weekend? Perhaps an even better performance at the Oscars, by better actors?
That's the civilized approach. Some people are saying that Chris Rock didn't know the spouse had hair growth issues and the short hair was just a style. Not sure about that. But violence and F bombs - it's against their policies of decorum and they should punish Smith.
Could be real, Rock sees a bald woman and makes a bad joke. Smith delivers an unfunny punch line. But it does boost ratings for the BlAcademy awards.
Just another rumble in the jungle, nothing to see here.
Oscars have ratings lower than Joe Biden, so they needed to manufacture “interest” and relevance. Here comes Will Smith & Chris Rock...still don’t care.

The Left likes to talk about punching people in the face. I expect to see more of this behavior everywhere.
Honestly though it’s the Oscars and not a Roast, Chris might have felt he didn’t cross the line with his remark but its well known she has a medical condition and it’s not her choice to be bald.
Smith took serious offense and bitch slapped him for it, the only difference is you or I would be charged with assault, and if there were a lawsuit we would feel it financially with the lawyer costs and damages, someone worth hundreds of millions of dollars it means a few signatures and some court time.
50 years ago someone would have been slapped silly too, it just would have happened behind the curtain and not on stage is all. Can you imagine the fallout if someone ever said that about Frank Sinatra’s wife back in his day in front of millions of people trying to get a laugh? Bet he would have done the exact same thing as Smith did but with a closed fist.

I agree. You cannot hit somebody for insulting you. Will is an actor, and this was a publicity stunt.
Should have had Zelensky host the Oscars like Sean Penn wanted. And this would never have happened. lol
Black people have a very special privilege.
In a normal world that would be a huge mistake. But today, Black on Black violence is apparently acceptable.
