One of the oddities of the 1966 movie version of Fahrenheit 451 is that the society is constantly promoting technological regression: at one point, for example, Montag's wife throws away his electric razor and hands him the "latest thing" for shaving, a straight razor. At the time I thought it was an unnecessary aspect of the movie, but here we are now, living in a time when technological regression is going to become the means of virtue signaling: "See, I'm a good person, I don't use a car, I don't eat beef--and I shave myself with a straight razor."

I was thinking of The Nutty Professor with Jerry Lewis. Of course Jerry was a man but these days he could say he is really a woman and you better not question him/her (sorry, Jerry, you were a good guy, a strong Trump supporter, and your son served in VN in the Army but you’d appreciate the humor).

I regressed to a double edge safety razor. Not having ingrowns is a blessing. plus blades are real cheap. Bic platinums can be had by 100 lot for about 15 bucks. I get 3 good shaves from 1. thats much better than paying 15 for 2 or 3 of those 5 blade jobbers that maybe get you 10 shaves or so a piece. I am not steady or refined enough for straight razors.
