If only there were a way to store water for times like this. Perhaps a wall or something that could hold water back so it would fill in a low lying area. Alas such a device will never exist.
But then the smelt won’t be able to traverse the entire length of the waterway and will have to content itself with spawning downstream.
No can do.
I posted numerous articles by Katy Grimes at the Globe on how Dipstick DRAINED ALL of our reservoirs last year when they were at 100% capacity and flushed all the water out to the ocean.
That’s a dam good idea!
