“ My Russian wife has family in Luhansk Oblast where she’s from and where Azov Battalion Nazis are engaged in a campaign of ethnic cleansing against her people so that’s where my sympathies lie.”
——————————————————————————————————————-
Ok. So I assume your wife is Jewish? Hence ethnic cleansing?
Or do you mean ethnic Russians?
My wife is Jewish. I don’t think religion is a factor in this War.
Actually there are 2 Battalions of Azov Nazis.
A Battalion can be up to 1,000, so on the high end there could 2,000 total of Azov fighters.
So Ukraine is fighting Russians.
So enlisting the help of people that hate Russians isn’t a good idea?
If you can clarify. Your reasoning seems vague.
You want a Country of 47 Million to be wiped out because of 2,000 or less Nazis?
Innocent women and children are being injured, killed and displaced from their homes with only what they can carry.
But your wife is Russian and lives here in a safe place and you are siding with destroying an entire country because you hate 2,000 of its people?
I’m not sure I get your point.
Simple.
My wife and her family are ethnic Russians who have lived in the Donbas for generations.
The Azov Battalion are Ukrainian nationalists who view Ukrainians as pure Slavs and Russians as mixed-race mongrels.
They'll tell you as much if you ask them.
After the fairly-elected president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovich was tossed from power in an illegal coup in 2014, the pro-Russian Donbas seceded.
Azov Battalion has tried to make a claim on that land since then, engaged in a brutal war against separatists to take land that never belonged to Ukraine.
No, I've made my position pretty clear.
As I've said, I have a dog in this fight, unlike most here who couldn't find Ukraine on a map as of three weeks ago.
1.) Ukraine surrenders Crimea, which has belonged to Russia since the 1780s, land that was won in battle, land that Ukraine has never had a legitimate claim to control.
2.) Ukraine honor the independence of the Donbas. Pull back the Azov Nazis. Stop the ethnic cleansing that has occurred since 2014.
Yes, Ukraine will be little bit smaller but do you really care? I certainly don't.
