Going to a foreign country to volunteer in a live shooting conflict has a lot of downsides. Not the least of which is poor impulse control in the ‘volunteers’. Not good for opsec.

Another downside is that if you’re willing to be under the command of your host country, guess who becomes the cannon fodder.
