There was no arrest. APD was called, responded, detained the well healed director, then "After his identity was verified with both his California state ID card and his Bank of America card, Coogler was released and the bank released an apology statement."
He probably didn't speak to the bank management first because that would have drawn more attention.
Chunk Yogurt, should ESAD.
What does that mean?
His withdrawal amount is scribbled in the place where it says not to write w/ no account number. You put your withdrawal amount and account number in the places they ask you to so a scanner can properly read it. She most likely couldn't have processed this like he asked if she wanted to.
Why do you think the Hollywood Director is the leader of BLM? He directed a Marvel Comics movie named "The Black Panther" about a comic book character. He also wrote and directed the most recent Rocky spin-off movie about Apollo Creed's son called "Creed."
A goggle search indicates he is worth $25 million.
He used a deposit slip for the note.
Wonder if that's the pillow police jurisdiction?
Does seem a bit of a confusing thing to do, unless he knew the teller well.
So is Ana.
He was wearing what the Navy used to call a watch cap along with a hooded sweat shirt. I hate that name, "hoodie." We used to call it a hooded sweat shirt. It's as bad as the Brits calling a cup of tea, a cuppa. It a sounds retarded. Wait, I'm not supposed to say retarded now either. That's tough!
Of course he has an apology. He’s black and apparently famous!
Is that the way you fill out your withdrawal slips? W/ no account # and not even a name of the account? It was handed back to him because it couldn’t be scanned. That area is for the scanner/printer to print the pertinent information on - which he didn’t even bother to give them!
This shouts two things - 1) it was staged by the “celebrity” to get exactly this result, and 2) it’s a “Don’t you know who I am” moment.
Neither work for me at the bank. Not sure about you.
Try this yourself. Put on a mask, write out a note asking for some thousands of dollars, and slip it to the teller. Odds are she will hit the panic button before she finishes reading it.
His note was on a deposit slip, he filled out a withdrawal form as well to get his money. You don't see that one, because the bank has it. Like all banks do, for a transaction. He didn't want to be recognized at all, that failed. Nobody wants the cashier to count out 12k in a bank lobby in Atlanta. Stay away from atms in ATL as well.
So why did he write a really weird note in the “do not write in this” area on the slip instead of simply filling out the slip w/ the appropriate numbers (account number, amount of withdrawal, etc.) like the rest of us normal people do?
How do you know his info wasn’t on the front?
I have Chase Bank. That is the back of my withdrawal slip, not the front where he would fill out all that info.
How do you know his info wasn’t on the front?
withdrawal, not deposit.
OK - I think I finally get what you’re saying. You’re saying he filled out a proper withdrawal slip as well as this (a note). If that’s the case, I sort of get his side. I was under the assumption that he was using this as his formal withdrawal slip, but I haven’t read up on it - because it doesn’t interest me. Either way, there’s a better way to handle it imo.
Passed a “note”?
Is he unable to talk?
I think everyone was black. Dude, teller and cop.
No racism possible.
Anyone else here watch Devon Tracey videos on censored.tv?
I engage in professional email correspondence a lot (like many) and my standard closing phrase is regards.
I cannot tell you how many times I have very nearly clicked the send button without picking that one up!
The ramifications of that mistake in the wrong situation!
As for a hoodie, I call it a sweatshirt or hooded sweatshirt...that’s it for me. I used hoodie deliberately because of the racial component being injected into this event by people.
I think that is why it hits my fully bone, as if seeing race-baiters hoisted on their own petard.
Is he unable to talk?
In a bank with its quiet bank atmosphere, with a plexiglass sneeze guard between you and the teller, while wearing a mask, makes whispering sound like shouting and defeats the desire to make a discrete transaction.
I do think a correctly filled out withdrawal slip plus his valid ID card and credit card should have been all he needed for a normal transaction, but he had to communicate that he wanted the teller to count the $12,000.00 somewhere away from the teller desk so no one would notice him, hence the note.
It doesn't seem that difficult to understand for me but maybe it is because I worked at #1 and #2 Peachtree Street for several years total and have been in and out of that warzone innumerable times. I even had a car stolen from the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation Building parking lot next to the rail road tracks. And no, I never heard hide nor hair of it again.
